I help drive the scaling efforts of Bright Star Studios, a Copenhagen-based games studio (supporting full remote work) developing Ember Sword, a groundbreaking social sandbox MMORPG game set in a community-driven PvP and PvE fantasy universe, and building out our game engine.
Some technical highlights of our game (engine) include:
๐น Our inhouse game engine is developed with an ECS architecture in modern C++20, and we’re looking into commercializing the engine in the future
๐น Uses Emscripten and WebGL (looking into Web GPU), and runs in the browser with a loading time of under 5 seconds
๐น ~2MB (brotli) compressed WASM file
๐น Minimal use of third-party libraries to ensure performance and file size
๐น Quarterly code refactors to ensure a clean and enjoyable code base
